Oscar Ready

We don't know about you, but it seems like everyone wants a piece of the Oscar action. Years ago, we would just sit around and watch the hottest names of tinsel town walk down the red carpet and accept their award. Now that's no longer good enough, now we want to be a part of the "action". Are you one of these people? If you are, then here is a quick down-and-dirty guide to throwing an Oscar's party.

Hopefully you have already told all your friends about your party, but if you haven't, don't worry, all you need to do is send them a free Oscar-themed evite.

Dress the Part. Rummage through your closet and pull out that old bridesmaid dress--go on and do it. It's just sitting back there collecting dust anyway; why not get one more use out of it? Don't have one? Explore a local thrift or consignment shop. They always have fun options to pick from, even if you're hollywood starlet from the 80's.

Evoke the glamor of Hollywood and transform your home. Give your guests the star treatment with a red carpet entrance. You can pick up some inexpensive red felt from your nearby fabric store. (Here is a coupon for 20% off of your total order at JoAnne Fabric.) You can also break out your Christmas lights to hang around the house to add some glitz.

Create a star-worthy table, like the one below--very old Hollywood, simple and classic.

Party city also has a great assortment of inexpensive Hollywood inspired decorations.

Serve up some delectable snacks. Since most of us are pressed for time, just go to the freezer section of your local supermarket and pick up an assorted box of hors d'oeuvrs. Pair these with some cheese, crackers, and fruit and you are all set. Trust us, even if you didn't spend hours in the kitchen, everyone will love it!

When it comes to dessert, just make things easy and place an order for Red Carpet Cake Pops.

And, it's not a party without a signature drink, like this Amour French "Rose" Cocktail.

Last but not least, every guest should leave with a "goody bag". Now don't stress out; these don't have to be expensive. Target, Walmart, Kohl's and the Dollar Store are great resources for candies, gift bags, and other fun items.

Short & Sweet

We have been busy getting ready for a Grammys party that we are throwing this upcoming weekend. With this being said, we are going to keep this post short and "sweet" by showing the two key pieces we are going to have at this event...

A customized cake inspired by Sweet Tiers

And these cake pops inspired by Midtown Sweets

Enough said, now back to work :-)
